Is more ridiculous mid engined rally cars with hatchback bodies. Come on Ford, VW, Citroen, you guys can do it. Seriously, can you imagine the awesome that would be a VW Polo with the engine in the back seat. Make it happen. Here is some inspiration.

Ken Block drives a 600 hp awd ford Fiesta. How much more insane do you want?

It's not a fiesta, just a fiesta body. I can't go down to the ford dealership and buy a street AWD fiesta.
We need real homologation back

Now I'll agree with you completely on the homologation front. But a Lancia S2 wasn't much of a Lancia Delta either.

I want it to be available from Ford with a warranty. :)

600hp RWD with the engine in the backseat. That should be just about the right amount of insanity.

Sadly it'll never happen because if the FIA declared the return of 80's-style homologation (there's still homologation today, just in a different style) the only thing they'd achieve is losing all manufacturer involvement. Everyone would jump ship like it's the Titanic.

If only. Sadly those days are gone for good :(
